Arbay Ali was recently selected to be a Nugget for a Day! Only 12 students are selected per season from around the state, and the judging of the competition was based on four basic criteria; good citizenship, scholarship, determination in the face of adversity, and positive character. Denver Nuggets officials surprised her during gym class at Merrill Middle School and presented her with the award. As a Nugget for a Day, Arbay received a Carmelo Anthony jersey, attended a Nuggets’ practice session, met the Nuggets players, and attended the game on Wednesday, February 25 versus the Atlanta Hawks. Arbay and her family, along with teachers, friends, and Breakthrough staff, enjoyed the game from the Conoco Suite, and Arbay was honored during the 3rd quarter of the game by being featured on the big screen.
